I want to see how many of us have found the one in another state or country.

You, Yeah, You
I love you, my Tumblr friend.
We are 4070 miles away.. From Sweden to Chicago! I’d love to hear you story :)
Oh wow! That’s quite a distance! Every happiness to you both!
Well… I was moving to Manchester, UK in the fall of 2012 to pursue my master’s. So, I changed my location on OKCupid to Manchester, just to see what kind of guys were out there, ha. A few days later, Richard messaged me. We hit it off so well that after a few weeks, he was the only guy I talked to on there. So, after talking every day for about a month, he asked me out, I said yes, and the rest is history! We’ve been together ever since September 2012. 🙂
How about you guys?!
Your message put the biggest smile on my face :) I am glad you like the blog and it really does mean a lot. Best of luck to you two as well! How many miles are between you? c:
Thank you so much!! We are 3,662 miles away… How about you guys?
Your Love from Afar Challenge Week 1
Friday- Do you enjoy being in a long distance relationship? Is your outlook positive or negative?
We think “enjoy” is a bit too strong of a word there, haha! Although we know in our hearts that we will not only survive but also thrive in this LDR, it’s obviously not our first choice scenario, shall we say. Especially because we lived with each other for some time before we started our LDR. But we would take this over breaking up with each other any day of our lives. We love each other so much that distance isn’t a good enough reason for us to break it all off.Â
There is no doubt that our outlook on our LDR and our relationship in general is positive. Lately, we have been having a lot of conversations about our future between ourselves and with our families. So, as far as we’re concerned, we’re in it for the long haul!Â
The Big 3-0

Thank you so much for following us!!!
We appreciate the love! You all are superstars!!!

Your Love from Afar Challenge: Week 1 Day 2
Wednesday- What are peoples initial reactions to you being in a long distance relationship? Does it bother you? Have you found people who are supportive?
Cat: For the most part, I have to say, everyone’s initial reactions have been overall supportive. There has been the occasional but expected comments of “Wow, isn’t that going to be tough? Are you guys really ready for that?” I think these questions are pretty natural, and so they don’t bother me.
What’s really special is that Richard’s grandma was in a LDR with Richard’s grandpa back in the day, long before modern technology. All they could do was write each other letters and wait weeks to hear from each other since Richard’s grandma lived in Wales and his grandfather lived in California. She’s been a real source of support and guidance for us. She and her late husband (RIP GP) are truly an inspiration for us.
Richard: Yeah, I would say people’s reactions have been mostly positive. I’d never say anyone was negative. I think it was more that they were worried about how we would cope with being apart all while having the mindset that we make each other happy. I understand their views, and it’s only what I think most people would think. So, it doesn’t upset me.

Your Love from Afar Week 1 Day 1
Monday-Tell us your story.Â
How far are you? How old are you both? Where do you both live? How long have you been together? Do you have any future plans? Have you visited each other yet?
—————————————————————————
Richard (25) and I (24) are 3,662 miles apart, as he lives in London and I live in Washington DC.Â
So, the Reader’s Digest version of our story is:
We met on OKCupid in August 2012, right before I moved to Manchester, UK to pursue my master’s. After talking all day, everyday for about a month, Richard asked me out on our first date, and since we were connecting in such an amazing way, I said yes. It was such a wonderful date; the best first date I’ve ever been on. He even baked a Victorian sponge cake that day and brought along slices for dessert!Â
A few days later, on September 24, 2012, we went on our second date and became official.
(If you guys want the full version, let me know, and I’ll make a full post of it!)
We’ve been together ever since, and we plan to stay together for the rest of our lives. 🙂
We started our LDR the day I had to travel home because my student visa for the UK was almost up, and unfortunately I couldn’t find full-time, sponsored employment in the UK. That was on January 27th of this year. So, we’ve been in a LDR for a little over a month now. We still haven’t visited each other because I have been traveling for the past month, and Richard has been working full-time and settling into his new flat.Â
But Richard is planning to come visit me in DC some time in late September! I could not be more excited!!Â
